Ingredient Procurement and Logistics Assistant

Quality Liquid Feeds, Inc is looking for team-oriented individual who is ready to help us feed the world. Duties and responsibilities: This individual is responsible for assisting with purchasing, and logistics, of essential ingredients in a cost effective and efficient manner to storage points, manufacturing sites, and final sale destinations either as end products or for their future use in feeds or direct sales. Purchasing and transporting these essential ingredients will be done in a manner that assists the Regulatory Affairs Manager in accomplishing his/her goal of feed safety and quality. This person will assist with coordinating all ingredient procurement activity for all 17 + Employer-owned facilities, follow ingredient markets and initiate price list changes accordingly, assist the development of business relationships with suppliers, identify and manage financial as well as supply quality and timeliness of ingredients. This individual will assist in providing monthly summary reports to Company President regarding purchase and logistics activities, movements in markets, new ingredients, bookings, rail and barge activities, opportunities, challenges, etc. This position will review and approve payables for all ingredients purchases as well as freight associated with each purchase. Additionally, this person will be expected to work collaboratively with sales, manufacturing, marketing, technical, transportation and wholesale departments within QLF to provide and request timely and accurate information necessary for cost effectiveness, efficiency, accuracy and teamwork. This position is responsible for assisting with the assurance of a continuous supply and timely procurement of necessary ingredients while managing the physical inventory capacity and inventory value on hand. Moderate amount of travel may be required.

Required: Strong understanding of the agriculture/commodity/manufacturing environment. Consistent performance and delivery of sourcing and successful negotiation. Strong computer skills: email, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Excellent communication, presentation and organizational skills. Must be able to multi-task, prioritize, work under deadlines, and function well as part of a team. Must have strong analytical skills with experience in financial or cost modelling and the proven ability to build effective Supplier relationships.

Education: Bachelor’s degree and/or procurement experience, preferably in the agriculture/commodity environment.
